Country Charm
by Marilyn Kutsukake
2007 Wall Calendar
Watercolorist Marilyn Kutsukake finds inspiration from the
simplicity of a bygone era and her paintings reveal a reverence towards
the calm, reflective moments present in our everyday lives.
Whether the subject reveals itself in turn of the century architecture,
the beauty in a garden, or the mementos and legacies of family histories,
objects such as quilts and old lemonade pitchers, or simply a well-used
chair, evoke feelings that communicate the warmth and goodwill associated
with home, family and community.
Marilyn renews and challenges her work by employing more effective paint
techniques that suffuse life into the subject. Through interpreting
fabrics or the movement of rustling leaves with an expressive use of color
that evokes times, place and season, Marilyn’s work continues to pursue a
bridge between the past and present.
Marilyn’s art career has spanned over a decade and she continues to
participate in the art community through galleries, juried art shows,
teaching workshops, prints and commissions.
“Gardens tended with love nourish both the senses and the soul.”

bygone era and her paintings illustrate how discarded items from the past have
now become simple objects of beauty and gentle reminders of yesterday.
