Simple Pleasures
by Mary G. Smith
2008 Wall Calendar
Mary G. Smith lives in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with her
husband, four children and three dogs. All of them have been lovingly
depicted in some of her paintings at one point or another, willing and
devoted victims of her brush strokes. Children and dogs are a fascination
for her in their everyday quirks, mishaps and yes, even naughtiness and
she loves to depict all these on her canvas.
Mary is an entirely self-taught artist who started painting with acrylics
only as a hobby when her fourth child started school. To her delight, she
found that people enjoyed them so much she decided to show them publicly.
She found several galleries willing to sell her paintings and has since
branched out into limited edition prints, poster prints, and cards, all of
which can be found throughout Canada and the U.S. Oils have now become her
medium of choice and her near future holds the possibility of venturing
into collector plates and figurines.
Mary’s loving depictions of children in their carefree pursuits are a
direct reflection of the things she values most, and are sure to evoke
warm memories of a more innocent time.
All Pine Ridge Art's Wall Calendars are environmentally
friendly, printed on acid free linen paper, using a six vegetable-ink color
printing process. Each calendar features a decorative wrap for protection, which
displays all twelve images on the back along with the Artist's biography.
